Reduces the selection to visible cells only, so a copy skips hidden and filtered rows.

• Copy filtered rows

  Filter a table, select the visible rows, Alt + ;, Ctrl + C, paste elsewhere → Only the filtered rows are pasted

  Without Alt + ; hidden rows sometimes come along.

• Copy an outline summary

  Group and collapse rows, select the summary area, Alt + ;, then Ctrl + C → Only the collapsed summary rows are copied

  Report extracts from outlines.

• Fill visible cells

  Select a column with hidden rows, Alt + ;, type a value, Ctrl + Enter → Only visible cells are filled

  Hidden rows untouched.

• Copy after this and hidden or filtered rows are left out.
• Go To Special, Visible cells only, is the dialog version.
• A thin white line appears between visible blocks when it is on.
• Excel usually skips filtered rows on copy already, but manually hidden rows are copied unless you do this.

• Pasting into a filtered range still pastes into hidden rows; there is no shortcut for that.
• Mac uses ⌘ + Shift + Z.
