Wauvel
Free · QuickBooks Online

What’s wrong in your books, in under a minute.

Every set of books drifts: a deposit never matched, a customer credit nobody applied, spending left uncategorized. Connect QuickBooks and we run the checks a CPA would, then show you each problem with the dollars at stake and exactly what to ask your bookkeeper.

Connect QuickBooks and check my books

No account. No card. We only read your books, email the results to your QuickBooks sign-in address, and unless you decide to keep Wauvel, give the access back within the hour.

What each check catches

Does the balance sheet balance?

Assets should equal liabilities plus equity to the penny. When they don't, something was posted to one side only.

Opening Balance Equity

It should be zero once the books are set up. A balance here usually means an opening entry was never finished.

Undeposited Funds

Payments recorded as received but never matched to a bank deposit, so your income or your cash is overstated.

Catch-all accounts

Uncategorized income and expense, and "Ask my accountant": spending nobody has sorted, which skews every report.

Negative bank and inventory

A bank account or stock that's below zero in the books, which is almost always a missing entry.

Customers and vendors the wrong way round

Customers showing a credit and vendors showing a debit: unapplied payments, duplicates, or refunds never recorded.

Old receivables

How much of what you're owed is over 90 days late, and who owes it.

Payments that stopped

A bill you pay every month that hasn't shown up lately: either it stopped, or nobody recorded it.

Filings coming due

W-2s, 1099s and estimated tax dates that are close, when your books show the payroll, contractors or profit behind them.

How it works

  1. 1

Connect QuickBooks Online through Intuit's own sign-in. We only read: Wauvel never creates, changes, or deletes anything in your books, and we never see your password.

  2. 2

We read your accounts, balance sheet and the last few months once, and run the checks. It takes under a minute.

  3. 3

See every finding on the page, worst first, with the dollars at stake and what to ask your bookkeeper. The results are emailed to your QuickBooks sign-in address too.

  4. 4

Do nothing, and we give the access back within the hour: no account is created, and there's nothing to cancel. If you'd like Wauvel running these checks every day, that's one click; you're already connected.

Questions, answered

Is it really free?

Yes. No Wauvel account, no card, and no trial to cancel. You connect, you see the results, and unless you choose to keep Wauvel, the access to your books is handed back within the hour.

Doesn't QuickBooks check this already?

No. QuickBooks will happily let a balance sit in Undeposited Funds for a year, or a customer carry a credit nobody applied. It records what you enter; it doesn't tell you when the books have drifted.

Who should see the results?

Your bookkeeper. Every finding comes with a plain-language ask you can forward as it is. If you don't have a bookkeeper, the results are a to-do list for your next session in QuickBooks.

What does connecting let you do?

It lets Wauvel read your books once to run the checks. Intuit doesn't offer apps a read-only permission, so the commitment is ours: Wauvel never creates, changes, or deletes anything in QuickBooks. What we keep afterwards is the results (so the page and the email work) and your email address.

Why would a clean result still be worth it?

Because it's rare. If your books come back clean, you can send them to a lender, a buyer or your CPA with confidence.
