Worked examples
Create a pivot
Click inside the data, Alt, N, V, T, Enter → A new sheet with an empty pivot
Then drag fields.
Place it on this sheet
Alt, N, V, then choose Existing Worksheet → The pivot on the current sheet
Dashboards.
Data Model
Check Add this data to the Data Model → Distinct counts and measures available
Data Model pivots.
Worth knowing
- Make the source a Table first so the pivot grows with the data.
- Alt, N, V, T is the direct PivotTable command in newer versions.
- Recommended PivotTables suggests layouts.
Where it goes wrong
- Blank header cells stop the pivot from being created.
- A pivot placed over existing data overwrites it.
