Multiple value fields
Shows several summaries side by side, like Sum of Revenue and Count of Orders.
When to use it
Several value fields can sit side by side, and the same field can be added more than once with different settings, such as Sum and Count of the same column.
The shape of it
- How
Drag more than one field into Values, or drag the same field in twice with different settings.
Worked examples
Two fields
Drag Revenue and Units into Values → Two value columns per group
Related measures together.
Same field twice
Drag Revenue into Values twice, set the second to Count → Total and number of orders
Same field, two summaries.
Number and percent
Second Revenue, Show Values As, % of Grand Total → Number and share side by side
Raw plus percent.
Worth knowing
- Rename value fields by typing over the header (Sum of Revenue becomes Revenue ).
- Drag Σ Values between Rows and Columns to stack or spread them.
- Number format each value field separately.
Where it goes wrong
- Names cannot exactly match a source field name; add a trailing space.
- Many value fields with column fields explode the width.
