1What it does
Paste Special → Transpose flips a selection on its side in one keystroke. It's a static paste: the result is disconnected from the source, which is exactly right for a one-off reshape and exactly wrong if the source is still changing. When it needs to stay live, the TRANSPOSE function does the same thing as a formula that updates — worth knowing which one you want before you paste, because discovering it later means doing the work twice.
2The shortcut
- 1Copy the range with
Ctrl + C. - 2Click where the result should start, then
Ctrl + Alt + Vand pressE, thenEnter. - 3For a live version instead, type
=TRANSPOSE(range)— it spills on its own in Microsoft 365.
