When to use it

Inserts a new worksheet to the left of the active sheet.

Worked examples

  • New sheet

    Press Shift + F11 A new sheet appears

    Scratch sheet.

  • Rename

    Double-click the tab, type a name Renamed

    Name it right away.

  • Reorder

    Right-click the tab, Move or Copy Reorder

    Position it.

Worth knowing

  • The plus button next to the tabs inserts to the right instead.
  • Alt, H, I, S is the ribbon version.
  • Name sheets before referencing them.

Where it goes wrong

  • New sheet lands to the left, not the right.
  • Laptops may need Fn.
