Worked examples

  • Open the editor

    Click inside the data, Alt, A, P, T → The Power Query editor opens with the data

    Start a transformation.

  • Unpivot

    Select cross-tab columns, Transform, Unpivot Columns, Close and Load → A flat table ready for pivots

    Unpivot.

  • Merge tables

    Home, Merge Queries → A join between two tables

    VLOOKUP at scale.

Worth knowing

  • Every step is recorded and replays on refresh.
  • Load to the Data Model for large data.
  • Ctrl + Alt + F5 refreshes the output.

  • Changing the source column names breaks steps.
