When to use it
Pastes values only, skipping the Paste Special dialog. Available in Microsoft 365.

Worked examples
Freeze formulas
Copy formulas, Ctrl + Shift + V → The results are pasted as numbers
Freeze a calculation.
Drop formatting
Copy from a formatted report, Ctrl + Shift + V → Plain values without colors or borders
Clean paste.
Out of a Table
Copy a Table column, Ctrl + Shift + V into a plain sheet → Values without the Table style
Export from a Table.
Worth knowing
- Older versions need Ctrl + Alt + V then V.
- Add Paste Values to the Quick Access Toolbar for a mouse version.
- Works with the moving border still active.
Where it goes wrong
- In some versions Ctrl + Shift + V pastes text without formatting, not values; check the result.
- Not in Excel 2019 or earlier.
