When to use it

The p-value of a Student t-test. Replaced by T.TEST with identical arguments.

Syntax
=TTEST(array1, array2, tails, type)

Worked examples

  • Paired

    =TTEST({3,4,5,8,9,1,2,4,5},{6,19,3,2,14,4,5,17,1},2,1) → 0.196016

    Paired, two-tailed.

  • Paired again

    =TTEST({3,4,5,8,9},{2,3,4,6,8},2,1) → 0.0039

    Another paired test.

  • Two groups

    =TTEST(A2:A31,B2:B31,2,3) → 0.043

    Independent samples, unequal variances.

Worth knowing

  • T.TEST is identical.
  • Type 3 is the safe default for independent groups.
  • Tails 1 or 2.

  • #N/A when paired arrays differ in length.
