Worked examples

  • Three months

    =RECEIVED(DATE(2008,2,15),DATE(2008,5,15),1000000,0.0575,2) 1,014,584.65

    One million for three months at 5.75%.

  • Half year

    =RECEIVED(DATE(2025,1,1),DATE(2025,7,1),97500,0.05) 100,000

    Half a year at 5%, 30/360.

  • One year

    =RECEIVED(DATE(2025,1,1),DATE(2026,1,1),95000,0.05) 100,000

    A full year.

Worth knowing

  • Received = investment / (1 - discount × days/year).
  • INTRATE reverses it.
  • Basis matters for short periods.

Where it goes wrong

  • #NUM! for a discount of 0 or less.
  • Text dates return #VALUE!.
