Worked examples
Simple
=IMREAL("6-9i") → 6
The real part.
Pure imaginary
=IMREAL("3i") → 0
No real part.
Real
=IMREAL("5") → 5
A real number.
Worth knowing
- Resistance is the real part of impedance.
- IMAGINARY for the other coefficient.
- Returns a number you can do math on.
Where it goes wrong
- #VALUE! for invalid text.
- Uppercase suffixes fail.
