Converts a price quoted in fractions (like 1.02 meaning 1 and 2/16) into a decimal.
The shape of it
- Syntax
=DOLLARDE(fractional_dollar, fraction)
Worked examples
Sixteenths
=DOLLARDE(1.02,16) → 1.125
1 and 2/16.
Thirty-seconds
=DOLLARDE(1.1,32) → 1.3125
1 and 10/32.
Bond quote
=DOLLARDE(100.16,32) → 100.5
100 and 16/32.
Worth knowing
- US Treasury quotes use 32nds.
- DOLLARFR converts back.
- The fractional digits are read as the numerator.
Where it goes wrong
- #NUM! when the fraction is 0 or negative.
- Confusing 1.1 (10/32) with 1.10 is easy; both are the same number.
