CRITBINOM
Returns the smallest value for which the cumulative binomial distribution meets a criterion; replaced by BINOM.INV.

When to use it
The smallest number of successes whose cumulative binomial probability reaches alpha. Replaced by BINOM.INV.

=CRITBINOM(trials, probability_s, alpha)
Worked examples
Third quartile
=CRITBINOM(6,0.5,0.75) → 4
Four covers 75%.
Median
=CRITBINOM(10,0.5,0.5) → 5
The median.
Planning
=CRITBINOM(100,0.02,0.95) → 5
Planning quantity at 95%.
Worth knowing
- BINOM.INV is identical.
- Used in acceptance sampling.
- Alpha is a cumulative probability.

- #NUM! for probabilities outside 0 to 1.
