Returns the cotangent of an angle given in radians.

When to use it
Cotangent of an angle in radians: 1/TAN.
The shape of it
- Syntax
=COT(number)
Worked examples
45 degrees
=COT(PI()/4) → 1
At 45° tangent and cotangent are both 1.
30 degrees
=COT(RADIANS(30)) → 1.732050808
Square root of 3.
One radian
=COT(1) → 0.642092616
One radian.
Worth knowing
- Run over rise, the reciprocal of a slope.
- Convert degrees with RADIANS first.
- ACOT inverts it.
Where it goes wrong
- #DIV/0! at 0 and multiples of pi.
- Inputs beyond 2^27 in absolute value return #NUM!.
