When to use it
The left-tailed chi-squared distribution. Cumulative TRUE gives the probability of a statistic at or below x.

=CHISQ.DIST(x, deg_freedom, cumulative)
Worked examples
One degree of freedom
=CHISQ.DIST(4,1,TRUE) → 0.954499736
A statistic of 4 on 1 degree of freedom is at the 95.4th percentile.
Two degrees of freedom
=CHISQ.DIST(2,2,TRUE) → 0.632120559
With 2 degrees of freedom this is an exponential: 1 - e to the minus 1.
Density
=CHISQ.DIST(2,2,FALSE) → 0.183939721
The density at 2.
Worth knowing
- Tests usually want the right tail: CHISQ.DIST.RT.
- Degrees of freedom for a contingency table are (r-1)(c-1).
- Non-integer degrees of freedom are truncated.
Where it goes wrong
- #NUM! for negative x or degrees of freedom below 1.
- The cumulative flag is required.
