The shape of it

=CHIINV(probability, deg_freedom)
Worked examples
5%, 1 df
=CHIINV(0.05,1) → 3.841458821
The familiar 3.84.
Round trip
=CHIINV(0.050001,10) → 18.306973
Reverses the CHIDIST example.
1%, 10 df
=CHIINV(0.01,10) → 23.20925116
1% on 10 df.
Worth knowing
- Same as CHISQ.INV.RT.
- Probability is the right-tail area.
- Iterative.
Where it goes wrong
- #NUM! for probability outside 0 to 1.
